Reuben, also known as Experiment 625, is a major character of Disney's Lilo & Stitch franchise.
He is the last failed prototype of Stitch. He possesses all of Stitch's powers and is equipped with advanced lingual skills. The main flaw in his programming is laziness and cowardice; the most strenuous thing he does is make and eat sandwiches, albeit delicious ones. His one true place is with Captain Gantu as his galley officer and (presumably) chef.
He is voiced by Rob Paulsen.
His Good Ranking
His Heroic Deeds
- While he starts off as a villain who helps Gantu and Hämsterviel in their capture of Jumba's experiments, he only does it out of circumstances and not for any personal desire to be evil, as his only purpose in life is to make the best sandwiches with no one to bother him, which is a wholesome motivation, and he shows disgust on Hämsterviel's egotist and ungrateful attitude. Also, he already was an affable person with everyone including his enemies even when he has no need to be so.
- Despite their differences and subsequent constant argues, 625 and Gantu developed a genuine friendship with each other over time even if they started working together out of circumstances, as they demonstrate several times that they have fondness on their time together and that despite their differences their bond is unbreakable.
- He shows love feeling towards Angel despite the fact that he is immune to her hypnosis.
- During Lilo & Stitch: The Series, he already was On & Off helping the heroes at times without betraying them, as he an Gantu helps them in the fight against Splodyhead and he also tells Lilo the weakpoint of Experiment 627.
- He ultimately redeems himself in Leroy and Stitch becoming a full-on hero when he becomes part of Lilo's Ohana being renamed as Reuben, and helps her to find Stitch and later to defeat Hämsterviel and his army of Leroy's clones. Then he becomes the galley officer of Gantu when the latter is readmited in the Galactic Federation.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?
- While he passes the baseline by helping in the defeat of Splodyhead and later in the fight against Leroy's clones and subsequently stipping Hämsterviel's schemes, he massively fails the high admirable standards to Stitch himself, who having the same resources (it is established that he has all the powers that Stitch has), performed more heroic actions, Pleakley and Jumba, who have way less resources, having similar screen time, because just like Gantu he redeems himself near the end and has his best actions shared with them, and Lilo Pelekai who has almost no rescources but managed to redeem mutiple villans and played an important role in Dr. Hamerstviel's defeat.
- He can be a jerk very frequently, as there are several moments towards the series when he gratuitously insults Gantu, argues with him for petty reasons, and even interrupts his actions due to small, selfish desires (even if Gantu was doing something villainous). This is a trait that has nothing to do with his former villainy so it isn't subverted after his redemption.
- He is somewhat incompetent as despite having the same abilities as Stitch he hardly made any effort to use them and even after becoming a hero he managed to help them with the help of Gantu and not by his own capability.
